Rebecca Brown

Learning Designer

As a Learning Designer in the TLL, I partner with faculty, technologists, and multimedia specialists, among many others, to bring online courses and programs to life. My background in higher education – including teaching in K–12 and higher ed, creating and leading teacher training and professional development programs for PhD students, and consulting with faculty on the integration of educational technologies – informs my approach to helping instructors translate their disciplinary expertise and learning objectives into effective, engaging, and impactful learning experiences for their students.

I earned my Ph.D. in the Classics from Harvard, during which I taught ancient languages, discussion-based courses, and small seminars. Through this variety of teaching assignments, I came to appreciate the impact that the intentional design (or lack thereof) of an activity, assessment, and ultimately an entire course can have on student engagement and outcomes. This was the beginning of my ongoing journey in educational development and learning design, and I am excited to continue growing in this work at HGSE.
